IMG_2057.pngFlooding after the recent torrential rains in the Brisbane to Toowoomba region of Queensland left more than 20 people dead, 25,000 people displaced from their homes, and more than 4,000 people requiring emergency accommodation.

The Prem Rawat Foundation (TPRF) in liaison with Ivory’s Rock Foundation (IRF) offered Queensland emergency authorities the Ivory’s Rock Conference Centre (IRCC) facilities in Ipswich as a temporary shelter and distribution site for flood victims. Fortunately, no significant damage occurred at IRCC as it was outside the flood path and escaped some of the most torrential rains.

Nestled in the hills near the city of Ipswich, IRCC has been the site for several international conferences with Prem Rawat. “We feel for the people who are going through such hardship, and want to offer help in the most meaningful way we can,” said Linda Pascotto, President of TPRF. “Making IRCC available is one way TPRF could provide assistance quickly. We don’t know yet whether IRCC will be used as a refuge, but it is available as a temporary shelter if needed.”

TPRF and Ivory’s Rock Foundation are exploring other avenues of assisting in this disaster, such as promoting the Queensland Government’s Flood Relief Appeal. Donations to the Appeal go directly to impacted people and can be made at: http://www.qld.gov.au/floods/donate.html or through TPRF.

  1. I feel TPRF needs to be careful not to publish half- assed stories like this one. As an individual who helps at Amaroo on a regular basis... I saw no real attempt by the IRF to collaborate or communicate with anyone involved at Amaroo about providing the site as a refuge and who and how this could be truly accomplished. I admire TPRF for their REAL humanitarian efforts and successes.
  2. I stayed at Audreys house in Ipswich a couple of times when attending conferences at IRCC. If I had to be marooned somewhere, I couldn't wish for a more beautiful place to be than that.
  3. I'm so glad there was no damage to the IRCC site and that we could help in this disaster. I was really wondering when that flooding was happening. Way to go TPRF!!!
  4. I am so proud of TPRF and the kindness and realistic relief they share with people in need. Way to go TPRF!
  5. That's ultra fantastic!!
  6. Our Mum lost her home in the Cyclone which hit the north of Qld in Tully. She will be 80 in March. The people of that area are now added into the mix as recipients of assistance from flood donations. So thanks to TPRF for your quick response.
  7. WOW I USED TO LIVE AROUND IPSWICH .
  8. Sharing is agood way to help each other, wasn`t it meant to be living like brothers and sisters?
  9. When does TPRF and WOPG will be united?
