On September 11, Prem Rawat spoke in the island city of Florianópolis, in southern Brazil, as part of his South American tour. Known as one of the best places to live in this vast South American country, Florianópolis attracts tourists from within Brazil, the United States and Europe. This Saturday, though, the city saw another kind of visitor — people from across the continent and abroad who had come to hear Prem Rawat.

Here are some excerpts from his talk:
Are you a prisoner? What do you think? Your first prison is the prison of your concepts. It limits you. It won’t let you go out. It won’t let you understand. It won’t let you think properly. It won’t let you explore. All those constraints: your ideas, your concepts, your beliefs. I want you to trade your beliefs for knowing. If you know, you don’t have to believe. Because you know.

This 'tomorrow' business gives you a false sense of security that you don’t have. This is the worst part about it. In this life, everything resides in this moment that you are alive. Welcome it. Don’t ignore it: welcome it. When you acknowledge tomorrow, you ignore today. Don’t ignore today. Today is when you are alive.

This heart’s ability to enjoy is the only thing that is not going to age. The hundreds of thousands of dollars you’re going to spend painting your face is not going to help. It will age. Your eyes will age, your hearing will age. Your hands will age, your skin will age, your heart will age, your kidneys will age, your bones will age. The only thing that will not age is your heart: and what investment have you put in it?
