Prem Rawat recently visited Birmingham, the most populous city in the UK outside of London, to speak to over 4,000 people about peace. While his address jumped from topic to topic, he continually returned to the analogy of a pot — how the integrity of a pot must be whole for that pot to keep what it's meant to hold.

Here are some excerpts from his talk:

When the integrity of a pot is breached, it is no longer whole. It is no longer intact. Something happens. And whatever is placed in this thing will just leak out. It no longer has the capacity to contain, to hold. As human beings, when our integrity is breached, when we are no longer whole, when we are no longer complete, we, too, have no way to contain within ourselves the value of all things that are given to us.

Are you really waiting for everything to be okay? Because it’s not going to be okay. Only one thing needs to be okay for it all to be okay. And what is it? Go back to the pot. The integrity. The integrity of this being needs to be okay. That’s all. And if it is — if it is — then the rest doesn’t matter much.

When people are 'in love' — quote-unquote — they don’t see change! 'This will be like this forever!' Hello! It is not the nature of this clay, not the nature of this pot, not the nature of this vessel to stay the same. And, just as it is the nature of this vessel to change, there is something unchangeable within you. The ultimate contrast. The unchangeable is within the changeable.
