In Uruguay's capital, Montevideo, 460 people came to hear an intimate talk by Maharaji. Over the hour or so that he spoke, he reminded them to differentiate between the real and the make-believe, and to take time to get in touch with what's real.

Here are some excerpts from his talk:

There is a saying that I like a lot: 'Today is the first day of the rest of your life.' It is true: today is the first day of the rest of your life. What do you want to be? A real flower, or a fake flower? Do you want to bloom? Do you want to come in season? Do you want to give off that beautiful perfume, and dance in the wind?

Know. In your life, know what gift you have been given. Know that this Knowledge can bring you that peace. This Knowledge can bring you that joy. Know. Not believing. Not hearsay. Know that you can be real. All it takes is that want to be. To fulfill this heart.

Take advantage and be fulfilled everyday, because that's your opportunity. The world is not your opportunity. People say, 'I want to be successful.' On the outside, or on the inside? Which one?
