As part of an initiative to help young people do more for a peaceful world, Prem Rawat and the Scouts Association of Malaysia signed a “Pledge to Peace” in September 2014 at an event attended by 500 scouts and scout leaders. In an engaging address, Prem Rawat spoke particularly to the younger scouts, emphasizing that by beginning to train themselves to choose peace now, they can begin to make a difference not only in their own lives but also in their communities when they become adults. The event also included some insightful interactions with the audience.
“Do you know that you’re going to have to make choices? All your life, you’re going to have to make choices. The choice is your weapon. Choice is your weapon against ignorance. Choice is your weapon against all the things that you don’t want. Choice is the weapon that can save you. Choice is the weapon that can bring people together. Choice is the glue that can make people join each other.”
